Bulgaria has slipped down in the indices gauging economic freedom and conditions for doing business within the EU in 2012, the results of a research conducted by the local Institute for Market Economics (IME) showed.
In terms of corruption perception, Bulgaria dropped to the bottom place in the EU, IME said. In the Human Development rankings, too, it occupied one of the last places, like it did a year earlier.
The only area in which the country posted improvement was the right of ownership, where it climbed up to the last but one place.
Bulgaria lost six positions in the ease of starting business rankings, three spots in the ease of obtaining a construction permit table and two places in the investor rights protection ranking.
