Bulgaria can play a major role in helping bring the Balkans fully into Europe, said H.E. Eric Rubin, US Ambassador to Bulgaria, after a meeting with Prime Minister Borisov, FOCUS News Agency reports.
“I had a very good brief meeting with the Prime Minister to express our support for the plans to sign the agreement with FYROM. We think this is a very positive step forward in the Balkans, and we strongly support the efforts of the Bulgarian and the FYROM’s governments to reach agreement on this issue. We also strongly support the progress that Bulgaria and Greece are making together to complete the interconnector project, which is a very important part of energy diversification in Europe,” Mr. Rubin said.
“We strongly support all the progress that has been made in the region, and also the vision of the focus on the Balkans in the Bulgarian EU Presidency. I think Bulgaria can play a major role in helping bring the Balkans fully into Europe,” he added.
