Bulgaria has absorbed 10.7 billion euros from the EU operational programs for 2007-2013.
The amount includes state co-financing. This is 96.32% of the total budget of the programs for Bulgaria for the first programming period of our EU membership. This data is valid toward the end of December, the deadline for payments on EU projects. However, we got just 7.924 billion from the EU at this time, which is 86.53% of the total that should have been provided to Bulgaria. As for the projects implemented and disbursed at the end of last year, the EU has yet to reimburse the funds. Once these procedures are over it will emerge exactly how much money was lost.
OP "Environment" excelled in terms of funding absorption. At the end of December they got even more than expected - 1,792 billion euros, or 104.37 percent. Second and third were OP "Technical Assistance" (paid 54.54 million euros, or 99.79%), and the Program for Rural Development (paid over 3 billion, or 99%). OP "Regional Development" received 1,569 billion euros, or 98.02%. OP "Administrative Capacity" (169.6 million. euros, 97.49%), "Development of Human Resources" (1.166 billion, 96.12 percent), OP "Competitiveness" (1,114 billion, 95.85 percent), OP "Fisheries" (77 million euros, 92.12%) and OP "Transport" (1.687 billion euros, 84.22%) round off the list.
