Bulgaria 2013 Avg Jobless Rate Rises to 11.3%, Below Govt Target

The average jobless rate in Bulgaria last year stood at 11.3%, up by 0.2 percentage point from the average a year earlier and below the government’s target of 12.4%, the country’s Employment Agency said.
In 2013, the average monthly number of unemployed was 371,380, the agency said in a statement.
The number of people who found a job in 2013 totalled 249,720 or 25,038 more than in 2012. Job vacancies amounted to 138,915 last year, up by 11,772 from a year earlier.
In 2013, the biggest number of job vacancies was reported in manufacturing, trade and tourism.
Bulgaria, which joined the European Union in 2007, has a population of 7.3 million.
