Bansko Mayor: 20,000 Tourists Visit Resort City During Christmas and New Year Holidays

Nearly 20,000 tourists visited Bansko during the Christmas and New Year holidays, Mayor Georgi Ikonomov told FOCUS Radio - Pirin. He said this was a “huge” flow of tourists, unprecedented according to local hoteliers and restaurateurs. Although there is no snow in Bansko this winter, there is enough snow in the mountain and the ski runs have been prepared. “The quality of the snow is very good, so during the holidays everything was fine. I would describe the situation as very calm, without any accidents. I hope everything is successful for hoteliers and pleasant for tourists,” Ikonomov said. He added that it is still early to say if new foreign tourists have chosen Bansko this year.
