Banks in Bulgaria grow combined net profit in Jan

The combined net profit of the banks operating in Bulgaria increased to 77.3 million levs ($47.6 million/39.5 million euro) in the first month of 2021 from 52.1 levs in the same period of 2020, the country's central bank said.

The banking sector's net operating revenue rose to 332.8 million levs in January from 251.8 million levs in the same month of 2020, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a monthly report on the performance of the country's banks, published on Friday

Gross interest income of banks in Bulgaria decreased to 224.5 million levs from 257.2 million levs, while gross fee and commission income remained roughly unchanged year-on-year at 104.8 million levs.

The banks' total assets increased to 124.5 billion levs at the end of January, up from 114.1 billion levs a year earlier.
