Azeri Energy Co Socar To Buy 66% of DESFA

Azeri state energy company Socar has reached an agreement with Greek authorities to buy a 66% stake in the operator of Greece’s national natural gas system, DESFA, the Athens News Agency reported.
The agreement was reached with the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund. Advisory teams of both SOCAR and HRADF are currently working on the final technical matters of the deal, the agency reported, quoting Azernews.
“SOCAR, which has vast experience with natural gas pipeline systems in the Caspian region, is keen to start working in Greece as our first project of this type in the European Union countries,"SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said.
