President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev conferred Stara Planina Order - first degree to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Bulgaria Emil Karimov. The awarding ceremony took place at the Presidency, the press centre of the Head of State announced.
The award is recognition for his [Emil Karimov] contribution to the development of Bulgarian – Azerbaijani relations through political dialog on the highest level and deepening the bilateral cooperation in all fields.
Rosen Plevneliev reminded that the two countries signed in 2015 a Joint Declaration for Strategic Partnership, which marked the beginning of a new state of bilateral cooperation.
“Azerbaijan is highly valued and reliable partner and friend of Bulgaria and the trade turnover marks a positive development,” the President noted.
“We hope for as soon as possible implementation of the Bulgarian – Azerbaijani agreement for the purchase of natural gas and the construction of the respective infrastructure,” Rosen Plevneliev said.
“Azerbaijan is strategic partner in our efforts for achieving energy diversification and competitive price of energy resources. Signed in 2013 contract for the supply of 1 billion cubic meter of natural gas per year with the possibility of negotiating additional quantities is the basis for energy cooperation between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan,” the President said further.
