ALC Bulgaria, a subsidiary of South Africa's Automotive Leather Company (ALC) Group, is opening a second plant for upholstery near Sofia, whose production will be directed at BMV’s Mini Cooper.
The new factory will open until the end of the year, Capital Daily reported, quoting Shaun Bosch, ALC's General Manager.
ALC has so far invested some 10 million levs ($6.9 million/5.1 million euro) in Bulgaria. The company plans more investments in the future, including the expansion of its other factory near Sofia, in Musachevo.
The company's first plant in country was put into operation in June, following an investment of 4.0 million euro. ALC Bulgaria mainly produces leather upholstery for seats for BMW models. The new plant will employ some 300 workers and will be located in rented premises
The company currently employs 800.
