In two years time Bulgaria should get more money per unite cultivated land than countries such as Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic, Maria Nedelcheva MEP of GERB said at an agricultural workshop in Vratsa attended by leading experts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the National Agricultural Advisory Service and State Fund Agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food announced. Nedelcheva's statement was prompted by the European Commission debate on equalizing the amount of subsidies paid to new and old member states after the issue of the first non-legislative report by MEP George Lion on the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). According to Lion's report, the equal payments should be introduced as of 2020. The initial date was in 2013, then it was proposed to introduce such payments in 2016.
