The minimum wage will be 510 leva as of 1 January 2018, the government has decided. This is an increase of 10.9% compared to this year, the government press office said.
A higher minimum wage will motivate job seekers and help reduce the risk of poverty. It reflects the priority of sustainable increase in living standards stated by the government.
The rise of the minimum wage to 510 leva is facilitated by economic growth, sustainable GDP growth in recent years, an increase in employment rates and the average wage growth in the country.
As of 1 January 2018, the hourly minimum wage will be 3,07 leva.
