About 430,000 Bulgarians and 2.1 million Romanians currently live and work in the 15 countries of the so-called "old" EU, statistics by the European Commission shows.
Bulgarians and Romanians were 0.2% of the population of these countries in 2004, while in 2010 they were 0.6%.
The Bulgarian communities are largest in Spain, Germany, and Greece.
On April 20th, 2011, all labor restrictions to eight EU Member States, which joined the union in 2004 (EU-8) are to be lifted. Still, 10 of the old EU Member States continue to impose restrictions to Bulgarian and Romanian workers. /Source:BNR/
