Telephone number portability to become easier
Bulgaria's Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) was to propose a one-stop solution and reduced fees for number portability, according to CRC chair Vesselin Bozhkov. In an interview with Focus news agency, Bozhkov said that general consumer opinion was that number portability should be made easier. "Current practice shows that when the CRC gets involved, obstacles for portability are removed," Bozhkov was quoted by Focus as saying.

General practitioners in Bulgaria go on strike
General practitioners in Bulgaria go on strike starting March 8 2010 with the towns of Kyustendil and Veliko Turnovo. The strike will progressively expand to other regions in Bulgaria, Mediapool.bg reported. By March 9, GP's on Sofia, Plovdiv, Razgrad and other regions will also be on strike.

European Commission backs Borissov's plan for minister on EU funds
The European Commission supports the creation of a minister without portfolio responsible for European Union funds, Bulgarian-language Standart daily quoted Prime Minister Boyko Borissov as saying on March 8 2010. When Borissov first announced his plan for a new Cabinet post on March 5 2010, he said he would first consult the EC as to whether the new position would hamper the absorption of EU funds by imposing additional administrative burdens.

PM supports idea of EU rescue plan
Prime Minister George Papandreou said yesterday Greece supports the creation of a European rescue fund to help the country, adding that he would turn to the International Monetary Fund only if the country could not borrow from markets. “What we are talking about now is creating an ad hoc instrument which will help the Greek economy if in need and we want to borrow,” he said in Washington on the first day of a three-day trip to the United States.

Postbank offers improved conditions on Safe Home Loan
Postbank has introduced improved conditions for its “Safe Home” house loan. Customers who receive their salary in the bank can take advantage of a preferential interest rate of 7.35% for loans in euro, which is fixed for the first two years. The loan also allows for an additional interest rate reduction for good customers after the initial two years of fixed interest for the remainder of the repayment period.
