Minister: state will clear debt to private companies by end of May
The state would clear its debt to private companies by the end of May 2010, Regional Development Minister Rossen Plevneliev told Bulgarian National Television (BNT) on March 5 2010. "We are covering our debts to business but I cannot say whether we will be able to clear all our debt by the end of March," Plevneliev said. He did say, however, that the state would pay its debts to all companies by the end of May as clearing its debt to the private sector was a priority for the state.

Clients of Greek banks operating in Bulgaria have no reason to fear for the safety of their deposits, Ivan Iskrov, governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), said on March 4 2010.
