The European Commission allocated 2.3 billion euro for the energy sector, mainly for gas and electricity projects, the EC said in a media statement. The sum is meant for a total of 32 gas and 12 electricity projects in the EU over the next twelve months. Bulgaria will be among those to benefit with the support of projects for reverse flow and the Nabucco project to diversify gas imports.
Haskovo-Komotini gas pipeline agreements to be signed
Two agreements linked to the construction of the Haskovo-Komotini Bulgarian-Greek natural gas pipeline were expected to be signed in Thessaloniki on March 4 2010, Greek media said. The headquarters of the company that will oversee the construction of the bilateral pipeline and its use will be in Sofia. State-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) will have a 50 per cent share in the company while the rest will go to the IGI Poseidon S.A. which is controlled by the Greek DEPA and Italian Edison energy companies.
Outsourcing companies are poised to create more than 2500 jobs in Bulgaria in 2010. A Bulgarian outsourcing firm said that this particular sector has created 20 per cent more jobs in Eastern Europe in 2009 than in 2008.
Greek stocks resumed their upward trend in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, helped by the success of a 10-year bond issue. The composite index of the market rose 1.67 pct to end at 2,048.16 points, with turnover at 201.489 million euros. The FTSE 20 index rose 1.58 pct, the FTSE 40 index ended 0.41 pct higher and the FTSE 80 index fell 0.66 pct.
