Bulgaria Government Proposes 5-Year Ban on GM Crop Trials
The center-right governing GERB party has proposed that all cultivation of GM crops should be banned for 5 years, in a change to the new GMO Act. After a meeting of the Parliamentary Group of the center-right governing GERB party, Group Co-Chair, Iskra Fidosova, announced that GM crop trials should be banned for 5 years on the territory of Bulgaria.

Bulgaria PM Makes Official Visit to Great Britain
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov travels to Great Britain, on an official two-day visit at the invitation of UK PM Gordon Brown. Borisov is being accompanied by a delegation including the Deputy PM and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, and Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov.

Deputy Environment Minister: Delay in 11 ISPA-Financed Projects
There is a serious delay in the implementation of 11 projects worth about 300 million euro, financed under the ISPA Programme, Deputy Environment and Water Minister Ivelina Vassileva said in Varna on Thursday.

Optimism at Greece's Plan on Economy
European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet, at the G7 summit meeting in Canada, appeared optimistic Greece would meet tough new targets to rein in its budget gap. "We expect and we are confident that the Greek government will take all the decisions that will permit it to reach that goal," Trichet said. In the same line was France Finance Minister Christine Lagarde statement who said euro zone countries would make sure the Greek plan was implemented.
